The Voices for Health Institute (VFHI) is a core component of the Voices for Health (VFH) organization.  The Institute will offer healthcare providers, patients (hereafter referred to as clients), and the general public two distinct educational and empowering curriculums designed to improve services and decrease stigma surrounding barriers to care for mental health conditions and hidden disabilities, one of the four pillars of disease-related conditions addressed in the VFH mission statement. The Provider Education and Professional Development (PEPD) curriculum is designed for health care providers and other professionals who want to learn how to be sensitive to stigma in a clinical setting. The Patient Empowerment Program (PEP) is designed to help clients along the continuum of care, beginning with helping them seek care in the first place. Once VFH has built a foundation for addressing mental health issues, the Institute will expand these offerings to address the other pillars- silent and rare cancers, women’s health issues and aging-related conditions.
